Lately, the response to our dinner meetings has been REALLY terrific.

An RSVP makes it easier for us to arrange seating and for us to be able to try to get enough tables together.  It also makes life a bit easier for the business we meet up at.  They like to have an idea of how many to expect.

If you are considering attending one of our dinner/social events, please contact me using the information in our newsletter, or this website to let me know.

Thank you for your interest in our events and for your participation.

November 17 - Tuesday - Dinner/social ,  at Martinis on the Rock, located at 4619—34th Street in Rock Island at 6pm.  It’s just to the west of the Rock Island K-Mart as well as the Pizza and Subs location.  We will order off of the menu and may be in a private room.

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, we will only do one event in November.
  Please
rsvp by 4pm on November 17 to Ed by phone at 309-764-7859 or by e-mail at qcbac@mchsi.com so we can have an idea of how many to make room for.

December 13 - Sunday - QCBAC Christmas/Holiday party 4:00 pm upstairs at the River House in Moline, 1510 River Drive.  An elevator is available for anyone that has difficulties with stairs, just give me a call and I will explain where and how to use it.  The door to the elevator on the ground floor is not inside the restaurant.

The menu will include a sort of buffet, where the choices will be River House Meat Loaf, Chicken Alfredo, and Glazed Salmon.  You can choose one, two, or all 3 meat items.  Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, along with salad and bread sticks, and “regular” beverages: coffee, tea, or soft drink (other than 1919 Root Beer) will come with your meal.   Any alcohol consumed will be at additional personal cost to the individual.  The QCBAC board has voted to subsidize the per person cost so that the meal will cost $15.00 exactly per person.  You don’t have to worry about tax, tip or anything as that will be included in the portion the club picks up.  Please be aware that this 'special price' only applies to members and their guest.

We will also do a gift exchange, and as in years past, we will again do the Australian Gift Pursuit game.  It’s always great fun, and interesting to see what item is most desired.  Just buy something fun for $1.00, wrap it and don’t put a tag on it.  If you have never done this, get ready to do some laughing.

Making your RSVP early and mailing a check to Carol or me in advance will make setting this event up, much easier.  Just bring cash, or a personal check to pay in advance for your dinner, made out to Quad City British Auto Club to any future dinner event.  You can also mail it to Carol Jamison or me.  Again, the cost of any alcohol would be between you and The River House.  My check has already been handed in, will you be next?

Just bring cash, or a personal check to pay in advance for your dinner, made out to Quad City British Auto Club to any future dinner event.  You can also mail it to Carol Jamison or me.  Paying for your meal in advance sure makes everything easier for those of us doing the set up for this event  Again, the cost of any alcohol would be between you and The River House.

We would prefer to receive RSVPs and your payment by November 30th, as we need to give the restaurant an estimate by then.  A final guest count is asked for 7 days in advance which is Sunday, December 6.

Although we can add to our guest total after that if need be, getting your RSVP in as early as you can will certainly make life easier for us and the River House.  Anyone wanting to bring cookies or something simple for dessert is asked to do so as the River House has ok'd us bringing in cookies
.
I’d like to again mention that even though this is on the 2nd floor, the establishment has an elevator for those of you that might find stairs difficult.  Mention it to me when giving your RSVP and I will tell you how and where to find the elevator.

January ?, 2010Dinner/social meeting and election of club officers.  This event will likely be held in a private room at the Rock Island Bennigan’s, located at 226 17th St, in downtown Rock Island.  Remember, our next club officer election will be at this meeting.  It’s an important one.

4 years ago, several members stepped forward and really moved this club forward.  So, if you feel you have something to give or share, please get ready to step forward and volunteer.  Please do not be afraid to come, that you might get volunteered for something.  We want your input, we want to hear what you want.  Most positions, other than the ones I would be willing to continue to hold if chosen again, do not require all that much time.

More information to come.
